BIOGRAPHY
Sophy began her journey in the music world at the age of 5 by learning the piano. She followed the path of traditional arts education in South Korea, honing her musical skills throughout her undergraduate years. Next, she pursued a Master's degree at The Juilliard School in New York City, where she embarked on her studies as a solo pianist, immersing herself in an environment with some of the finest musicians and elevating her own abilities.
Taking her musical journey further, she moved her stage to Europe, completing a program in the United Kingdom as part of her studies abroad. During this time, she learned about European cultural approaches and perspectives towards classical music. Following the advice of Jonathan Feldman, a beloved professor of hers in the Collaborative Piano Department at Juillliard, she then ventured into the world of collaborative piano, gaining experience in performing alongside various instruments and ensembles. Moreover, she underwent intensive training to adapt to different sounds and circumstances, enhancing her ability to apply her piano skills across various musical settings.
Her musical journey provided many opportunities to rediscover sound beyond the realm of the piano. Drawing from these experiences, Sophy now aims to perform not only as a pianist, but also as an artist whose music transcends the sound of the piano.
